I originally joined the MTEC programme to complete a couple of modules which would allow me meet the necessary educational requirements to apply for engineering chartership. I found that the first modules I attended were very well organised, enjoyable and applicable to my role as a marine engineer at BAE Systems; and it wasn’t long before I had signed up to study the entire Masters course.
Although studying whilst working full time is challenging, the flexible nature of the MTEC degree programme provides the best opportunity to balance work, life and study. Fellow students came from a variety of different countries and industries, and their experience really added to the intensive schools (which often felt more like a discussion amongst peers than a series of lectures). Technology made it easy to study together outside of university, so even although the majority of the course is distance learning there are always lecturers or other students available to help.
I would definitely recommend this programme as a means of continuing study part time, and a big thank you to all at MTEC for facilitating the course.
